Amphibians
Amphibians live in water as larva, and on land as adults. They breathe using lungs in adulthood. They have moist skin with mucous glands and lack scales and claws.
The heart has three chambers: the right atrium, ventrical, and left atrium. The first amphibians began to appear in the late Devonian period, which wsa 360 million years ago. |
Reptiles
Reptiles are vertibrates, have scales, lungs, are dry, and lay terrestrial eggs with several membranes. They are the first vertibrates that aren't dependant on water for reproduction.
Reptiles are ecotherms, which means they rely on their behavior to control their body temperature. This is why they lay in sunny spots to keep warm. The four groups of reptiles are lizards (snakes), crocodiles, turtles and tortoises, and tuataras. |
